Wants Chief Minister to take the initiative The People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE), which is demanding the scrapping of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) and organising protests at Idinthakarai, has urged Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to initiate a fresh round of dialogue with the protesters. FSC is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organisation established by leading social, environmental and economic players to promote responsible management of forests. Petitions challenge TNPCB and AERB orders The Madras High Court on Thursday ordered notice to the Central government on two new writ petitions against the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) — one seeking to quash a Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB)’s order of July 23 prescribing the tolerance limit of the project’s trade effluent and the other seeking to declare the AERB’s clearance for Initial Fuel Loading (IFL) as null and void.

They sought the intervention of officials at the grievance redressal meeting here on Thursday to curb the irregularity. The farmers from Tiruchendur, Srivaikuntam and Ottapidaram had unanimously voiced their concern over such violations in large scale and claimed that their farmlands were getting dried up sans required amount of water.
