BT to cut down its carbon emissions by 80%

To Use Technological Expertise Of India London: British Telecom (BT), the company that advertises itself with the snappy tagline "It's good to talk', has put its money and mindspace where its mouth is with a bold new pledge to cut its carbon emissions by 80% around the world by 2020. Sir Michael Rake, chairman of the BT Group told TOI that his company, which has a footprint in more than 170 countries, was determined to do its bit for the planet. "We employ more than 100,000 people around the world and about one-third of our revenues now comes from outside the UK,' he said, adding that BT had "reduced carbon emissions in the UK by 58% since 1996. Now we plan to do it around the world'. The "plan' does not come free. BT, whose annual turnover was just a shade over
