Collectors put on high alert during heavy rainfall

Madhya Pradesh is experiencing heavy rainfall. The Relief Commissioner has issued directives to all the collectors, especially in sensitive areas, to be on the alert for dealing with any worst-case scenario that could result in due to heavy rainfall in their respective districts. Around 20 families have been taken to safe areas, due to flood in Newaj River in Rajgarh district. The Bandhpur village situated at 15 feet height in Jirapur tehsil has been marooned by flood waters of Chhapi River. The families living in low-lying areas have been shifted to Bandhpur village. As many as 50 families have been sheltered in Polytechnic College after flood water surged into Dubli and Duleni villages of Rajgarh tehsil. The villages were flooded owing to backwater of Choutara dam. The District Administration has swung into action with providing foods and drinking water to the flood-affected people at the sheltered places. The State has experienced 698.3mm rainfall against average rainfall 534.6 mm until August 8. In the east region of Madhya Pradesh, 759.6 mm above 28 percent of average rainfall has been recorded while 33 percent 650.4 mm rainfall was registered in west region. So far, 54 persons are reported to have lost their lives while 129 animals died and 8,341 houses were damaged in this monsoon season.
