Fuel sop for Dumka farmers

Dumka, Jan. 19: The state government will help farmers who have taken the initiative to help themselves.
The Dumka district administration has decided to reimburse fuel costs of all farmers who had either bought or borrowed pump sets to irrigate their parched paddy fields in the wake of the drought-like situation in the state.
Prasant Kumar, the deputy commissioner of Dumka who conducted a meeting with officials of the district agriculture, horticulture, fisheries and animal husbandry departments last week, said the state government would reimburse the cost of diesel used by farmers.
Farmers would have to produce fuel bills to block level agriculture department officers to claim the reimbursement which would be given for expenses incurred between July 15 to September 30, 2009 as per the instruction of the government, he said.
