To rid the Food For Work programme (FFW) of irregularities, the Andhra Pradesh State Government is drawing up fresh guidelines withdrawing the discretionary powers of ministers and MLAs and prohibiting the use of machines in executing the works. Selection of the works will be henceforth entrusted to 'gram sabhas' and sarpanches will be held responsible for any lapse in implementation.
