Honey collection in Sundarban begins Tapos Kanti Das . Khulna Honey collection in Sundarban began on April 1 and the Sundarban forest division has started distribution permits for honey collection. The department, however, imposed a ban on honey collection from the east division of the forest. Honey collection in Sundarban usually begins on every April 1 and ends on June 15, forest officials said. The forest department imposed the ban on honey collection from Sundarban east division after the cyclone Sidr had struck the south of Bangladesh on November 15, 2007. Sidr damaged the division badly. A number of honey collectors who went to Sundarban said there might be poor collection this year as bees have left many places in the forest. The forest officials said they had issued 54 permits on April 1 for honey collection. The officials said 116 permits were issued in 2001
