Rs 10.25 crore sanctioned for Kullu-Manali : NH

Public Works and Revenue Minister Thakur Gulab Singh today said a sum of Rs 10.25 crore would be spent on the widening and construction of drains, a bridge and tarring of 38-kilometre of the National Highway between Kullu and Manali. Accompanied by local MLA Govind Singh Thakur and Deputy Speaker Khimi Ram Sharma, Gulab Singh was addressing mediapersons here at the Circuit House. The Minister said an additional budget of Rs 4.6 crore has been sanctioned for the periodical renovation of the stretch of NH-21 right from Bhuntar up to Manali. He said the maintenance and care of NH-21 between Kullu and Manali was the top priority of the Public Works Department. While talking about Manali-Kullu Left Bank road, he disclosed that two estimates had been sent for the periodical renewal of this road, for which a tender has been invited. He assured to pay special attention to the reconstruction and maintenance of Palchan-Solang Nallah link road to attract more foreign and domestic visitors. The Minister said that under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna, a budget of Rs 126.52 crore had been sanctioned for Kullu district and total length of the roads under PGSY will be 488 kilometre. He said under PGSY, villages with a population of 500 would be covered by the year 2009 in Kullu district.
