Rs 75 cr to boost farm productivity in State

BHUBANESWAR: A plan outlay of Rs 75.46 crore for increased productivity of rice in 15 districts and pulses in 10 districts under the National Food Security Mission has been prepared by the State Government.
The State-level advisory committee of the mission headed by Agriculture Minister S.N. Naik recently discussed the measures taken by the Agriculture Department to implement the Central scheme which was launched last year.
The Centre provided Rs 11.33 crore under food security mission in 2007-08. Since the launch of the programme was delayed, the department could utilise only Rs 3.81 crore. The Centre has approved utilisation of the unspent money during 2008-09.
