Hyderabad, May 15: The APSRTC has decided to introduce 1,500 low floor buses in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
The low floor buses are safer since they have no steps, have large sliding windows, handle bars, pneumatic doors and more space for standing passengers. They are expected to improve accessibility and prevent mishaps.
The buses being procured by the RTC will have a floor height of 380 mm from ground level.
Delhi and other metros have already introduced these buses and the union government, which is providing Rs 300 crore for purchase of buses under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, asked the RTC too to buy only low floor buses.
