The state Government will soon declare new sugarcane price for the farmers, which would be the highest in the country, said Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
The CM said that sugarcane growers in the state were presently getting Rs 138 per quintal for sugarcane. Efforts were also being made to get export duty on basmati Rice reduced for the benefit of the farmers. The annual budget of the agriculture department had been raised from Rs 142 crore in the year 2004-05 to Rs 298 crore, Hooda said, adding the state government was also giving subsidy of Rs 500 per quintal on wheat seeds and Rs 1,200 per quintal on the seeds of pulses and Oil seeds.
