This comes a day after Mercedes-Benz India moved the Supreme Court to overthrow the order to ban the registration of all the diesel cars in the national capital and NCR region.
Tata Motors has moved the National Green Tribunal (NGT) challenging a ban on the registration of diesel commercial vehicles in the National Capital Region (NGT).
The move comes a day after Mercedes-Benz India moved the Supreme Court to revoke the ban on the registration of new diesel cars with engine capacity above 2,000cc.
The Delhi government has banned the registration of all new diesel vehicles -- commercial and private above 2,000 cc engine capacity in the NCR region.
Earlier this year, the NGT informed the Delhi Regional Transport Office (RTO) to immediately de-register all the diesel vehicles above 10 years old.
Noting this, Tata Motors said that over and above a ban on high capacity diesel cars, the ban had also been extended to commercial vehicles in the region.
On Monday, Mercedes-Benz told the Supreme Court that is was willing to pay 1% environment cess if that would mean it could sell diesel cars over 2,000 cc strong. According to a LiveMint report, the next court hearing is on August 24.
