UPSRTC to add 2,200 buses to its fleet

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) got the approval to add 2,200 buses to its fleet by next year. The proposal was passed in the board meeting held at the UPSRTC headquarters on Tuesday.
Besides, the board also sanctioned an amount of Rs 2,106 crore for the financial year 2009-10.
PRO, UPSRTC, Chaman Sharma said the board had sanctioned the proposal to constitute pension adalat for the speedy disposal of cases. As per an estimate, more than 300 pension cases are pending with the UPSRTC for five years.
The board also approved the proposal to provide financial support to the dependants of ad hoc drivers/conductors who had died in accidents. The PRO said that Rs 1 lakh had been approved for the purpose.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Transport, Govindan Nair, Managing Director, UPSRTC, MV Rami Reedy, Pankaj Kumar from IIM-Lucknow and UPSRTC officials.
