The chaos created by BRT in New Delhi has panicked the Rajasthan Government, which has decided to send a team of official to the national to study of the situation as similar system is being introduced in the State capital. The decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting on Tuesday and it was felt that, if some changes in implementation of the scheme are required, could be carried at this initial stage. A team of Jaipur Development Authority, which is responsible for implementation of Bus Rapid Transport System here, would send its team to Delhi in a day or two to study the situation. The team would be ask to submit its reports by May7, according to officials sources. The officials, who attend the meeting felt that that if such a system, instead of solving the traffic problem, could create virtual crisis in Delhi, where roads a far broader, it may play an havoc in the state capital, where there are no such wide roads. As par the norms to introduce BRTS, the minimum width of road should be 30 meters, but the roads, where BRTS is being introduced in the state capital, are not more than 20 meter wide. About a year ago, the State Government had decided to introduce BRTS in some selected areas to ease the traffic problem. It selected seven routes in the city, where BRTS would be introduced in first phase. Expect one road, which is 24 meters wide, none of the other road is wide more than 20 meters.
