JAIPUR: Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Tuesday announced launch of an ambitious Bhamashah Financial Empowerment and Women's Prosperity Scheme to benefit over 50 lakh poor and disadvantaged families in Rajasthan, especially the women. Ms. Raje told reporters after presiding over a District Collectors' conference here that the scheme would bring socio-economic self-reliance to 21 lakh rural families living below poverty line, 32 lakh small and marginal farmers and a large number of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families.
There is no proper implementation of schemes for people's welfare as announced by the government. As a result several problems are raising their head. This year there has been a record purchase of wheat at the mandis on support price. However, the farmers who could not sell their wheat in the mandis had to sell the same to the cooperative societies. But, they could not get payment as yet. Dozens of farmers of Charkheda, Timarni are experiencing trouble. These farmers had sold 2 thousand quintal wheat at support price to a registered cooperative firm.

Commissioner Tribal Development Jaideep Govind has instructed officers that every department should be sensitive towards primitive tribes and set its priorities in such a way that they get maximum benefit. Govind was reviewing the ongoing development schemes for primitive tribes yesterday at Sheopur. Those present at the meeting included Director Primitive Tribes Group RS Khare, Sheopur collector and various district level departmental heads.
Whereas for the construction of Sawra Kuddu Hydro Electric Project besides the Government land, some private land is also to be acquired by the H.P. Power Corporation Limited. Due to acquisition of private land for the project, some families will be affected but only one family shall become land less.
Sainj Hydro Electric project would require land some of which is being acquired form private persons. The construction of the project will also involve under ground works, transportation of large quantities of material, more than usual activity in the area and therefore, all this is likely to have an impact on the lives of people living in the area. Primary and Mass Education Adviser Rasheda K Chowdhury and Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Raja Devasish Roy at a workshop yesterday called for ensuring access to land, water and forest resources for the poor, women and indigenous people. Raja Devasish Roy stressed the need for amending the 1927 Forest Act and called for bringing reforms in the court system so that poor and indigenous people get their access to justice.
