  • Registration begins: Bhopal Bird Watching Camp-Summer 2008

    : Four four-day bird watching camps would be organised between May 14 and June 14. These camps would be organised under the joint aegis of R.C.V.P Naronha Academy of Administration and Forest Department. Thirty vacancies are available for each camp. Registration would be done on 'first come, first get' basis. The first four-day camp under Bhopal Bird Watching Camp-Summer 2008 would be organised from May 14 to 17, second from May 22 to 25, third from May 31 to June 3 and fourth camp would be organised from June 11 to 14. Rs 200 has been fixed as the fee for taking part in the camp.

  • Beelines for watching science exhibition

    Science Express has become centre of Bhopalites' attraction. It has been stationed at Habibganj Railway Station for the last three days. Several models and prototypes on science are on display in Science Express. It has already journeyed around 150 cities of the country. Science Express is the storehouse of knowledge for the children. Through it, little children are exposed to outside environment and satiates various questions that crops up in their mind. The models have been decorated by attractive colours and useful pieces of information are being provided through them.

  • Drive against polybags today

    Women and Environment (WE) and Regional Museum of Natural History (RMNH), Bhopal jointly launched an active programme to remove the polythene bags from the environment the other day. WE is a band of around 20 people, comprising of women, some retired, working, school, college students and volunteers.

  • State distributing same red wheat: Cong

    The State Government is distributing the same red wheat under the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojna which the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has criticised six-months back, alleged Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson JP Dhanopiya. In a press statement, Dhanopiya alleged that six-months back State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that Centre is sending red wheat which are not suitable for human consumption. Now, the State Government is supplying same wheat under it's much-hyped Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojna at Rs 3, he alleged.

Malaria remains a major health problem in the South-East Asia region with 83% of its population at risks. There are an estimated 20 million cases and 100,000 deaths each year from malaria in the region.

  • 3-lakh self-help groups formed

    As many as 2.99 lakh self-help groups have been constituted so in the state under Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana. Out of these, one lakh self-help groups have been formed by women. These self-help groups have been provided loans and subsidies to the tune of Rs 938.90 crore for establishing their own employment.

  • Need for consensus on reforms

    In an interview to a foreign financial daily, Finance Minister P Chidambaram recently observed that India needs to "catch up with China" in terms of economic growth to remain at the high growth trajectory. However, this requires greater political consensus, which unfortunately is lacking, but vital to realize our full economic potential. Unfortunately, after a decade-and-a-half of economic reforms, political consensus on these has been elusive, unlike China, which had consensus from day one.
