Hatirjheel Project 'Cancel design to save 500 families'
Residents of Boro Maghbazar, Siddeshwari and Ulon moujas yesterday demanded cancellation of the current design of the Hatirjheel project, as about 400-500 families of these moujas will be homeless if the project is implemented with the current design. GHMC has decided to develop 42 main routes in 12 surrounding municipalities, which were merged with the core city to form Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

Fisherfolk threaten to continue protests
Fisherfolk launched an indefinite protest on Monday to express their outrage at the official laxity in resolving the issues related to those displaced from the Krishnapatnam port area. Leaders of the fishermen forums declared that they would not relent till all their demands were addressed by the government. To emphasis their sorry state of affairs, the fisherfolk also brought pots and vessels and started cooking food on the premises of the fisheries office in Nellore town.

Need to act on climate change stressed
Singer Rabbi today joined the Greenpeace activists for highlighting the urgency of creating a National Climate Action plan (NCAP) that focuses on preventing climate change. Rabbi said, "Everything we do can either hurt or save climate and our future depends on the choices we make. One cannot afford to watch climate change. We cannot live in our cocoon-gated colonies, we need to take a stand on climate change.' The Greenpeace activists have occupied prime real estate and set up a migrant colony 35-ft above Delhi-Noida toll bridge.
