In a representation, Federation secretary Karmangudi S. Venkatesan said Cuddalore district, by virtue of its geographical location, was acting as a drainage point for rainwater run-off originating from the districts of Salem, Erode, Karur, Namakkal, Tiruchi, Ariyalur and Perambalur.

There may be relief soon for residents near Perungudi and Kodungaiyur dumping yards. A team of Chennai Corporation officials has completed a survey of four villages where new solid waste management facilities have been proposed. Around 55 acres in Malaipattu, 40 acres in Kuthambakkam, 100 acres in Vadamadurai, and 71 acres in Manjamvallur, have been identified for the facilities so far. The core element of the policy, according to a PPCC official, was to encourage manufacturers to set up plants to recycle used FTLs and dealers, both wholesalers and retailers to provide special disposal bins in their outlets to collect the lamps. The organisation was also mulling to provide a small sum as incentive to get back the used FTLs.

Though the district level coordination committee directed the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) to register cases with the police against the owners of illegal textile processing units and those who rented their land for establishment of such units, not a single case has been filed so far. The committee, established based on the directions of the Madras High Court, had give clear instructions to the TNPCB authorities a few weeks ago, asking them to file complaints so that the police could initiate criminal action against those running illegal textile processing units and those providing their lands for such units.
