MPs cut across party lines to blast scheme

Outrage over the illconceived BRT corridor rocked Parliament on Tuesday with members cutting across party affiliations protesting against the hardship inflicted on commuters in south Delhi by thoughtless planners. No sooner had nominated member Chandan Mitra raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha, than members vented their anger at the project. It was a rare occasion when Left and BJP members joined hands to denounce the scheme. The Left's objection is significant as it had initially said the project was a step in favour of the poor as it would give right of way to buses and discourage use of private vehicles. Raising the issue during zero hour in Rajya Sabha, Mitra termed the BRT project
