Despite the public outcry against the bus rapid transit (BRT) system, the transport department reiterated that the work on other BRT corridors has been put on hold and not scrapped. The work on the these corridors will begin soon after the problems on the Ambedkar Nagar-Moolchand Nagar corridor are solved. Transport commissioner R.K. Verma said, "BRT is to minimise traffic congestion in the city. It will work once all these problems are sorted out. We need a little more time to make corrections and make this system useful for commuters." Five BRT corridors have been put on hold as per the chief minister's decision that were scheduled to come up before the Commonwealth Games. The government has planned total 26 corridors in the coming years for the city. He said the department has undertaken construction work on other corridors which includes a clover bridge at Saket, widening the road near Siri Fort Auditorium and Press Enclave. Also, the department is experimenting with the signal system. Talking to reporters Mr Verma said a 5.8-km strech cannot be the real test of the corridor.
