  • CNG incentive scheme finds no takers

    There was not even a single voluntary response to the Delhi government's ambitious scheme of persuading operators of old diesel-run light goods vehicles (LGVs) to switch over to new CNG-run vehicles by offering them a whopping Rs 80,000 (12.5 per cent) tax incentive per vehicle. Out of a total of 38,500 diesel-run LGVs registered, over 5,000 are between 14 and 15 years old The scheme which was announced in February this year to persuade owners of 14 to 15 year old diesel-run light goods vehicles to switch over to more eco-friendly CNG-run ones, closed on April 30.

  • Fiat to source more auto parts

    Working for a larger car market share and stepping up sourcing of auto parts from India, Italian automobile manufacturer Fiat unfolded its plans to source auto parts worth at least 250 million euro (about Rs. 1,595 crore) from the country by 2010 besides launching the CNG variant of its bread and butter model Palio and rolling out some more cars in the coming 12 months. At present, it is sourcing parts worth 30 million euro from India.

  • Third increase in CNG prices in four months

    The associations of CNG filling stations have increased price of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Sindh by Rs 1.25 to Rs 38.25 per kilogram, a move vehemently opposed by the users. CNG Station Owners Association (CSOA) Chairman Malik Khuda Buksh said that the decision had been taken at an emergency meeting of the CSAO and CNG Dealers Association held here on Monday.

  • CNG Conversion Rate Picks Up

The CNG refuelling stations in the capital are struggling to cope with the ever-increasing demand for the fuel as conversion of petroleum-run vehicles continues at a very high pace. On average, about 2,000 vehicles are being converted into CNG-run ones every month, and about 92,135 vehicles were converted in 116 conversion workshops across the country until March this year.

  • Argentina to install 100 CNG stations in Punjab

    Argentina has signed an agreement with Government of the Punjab for installation of 100 CNG stations and intends to initiate new environment friendly projects in other parts of Pakistan. This was decided in a meeting between Federal Minister for Environment Hameedullah Jan Afridi and the Ambassador of Argentina Rodolfo Jose Martin Saravia here on Wednesday.

  • NBP hands over 45,000 CNG rickshaws

    National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has so far handed over about 50,000 environment friendly CNG rickshaws worth more than Rs 5.5 billion to applicants all over Pakistan under its Rozgar scheme. This was stated by the Group Chief Consumer Banking NBP Aamir Siddiqui in an interview here Monday. He said that about 75,000 applicants have been registered so far under the scheme involving a total amount of Rs 7.5 billion. He pointed out 20,000 registered applicants are waiting for the deliveries of CNG rickshaws from the manufacturers.
