Over 110 Have Succumbed To Swine Flu In 65 Days Jaipur: Alarmed over the spurt in swine flu deaths, the health department on Sunday directed the officials to closely monitor high-risk groups including persons suffering from diabetes, hypertension, obesity, under-5 children, senior citizens and pregnant women. Over 110 deaths took place in the past 65 days even as 600 persons underwent test for swine flu. Principal secretary, health, Deepak Upreti directed officials to take necessary steps to prevent the spread of swine flu and especially deaths. He said that within 24 hours of swine flu testing, the report must be issued. There should not be delay in the treatment. There should be no shortage of testing kits and medicines.
New Delhi: Two more people have died of swine flu in the city on Friday, taking the H1N1 toll to seven this year. The Delhi health department said the victims, both middle-aged, were hospitalized last week and died due to severe complications caused by the viral infection. Another death was reported from Safdarjung Hospital but the officials did not confirm it. A nodal officer said 58 new cases of swine flu or H1N1 influenza have been identified in the capital, taking the total number of cases this season to 302. A 27-year-old man from Delhi succumbed to the H1N1 virus at RML hospital on Wednesday, taking the death toll due to the virus to five in the national capital this year. Doctors said the patient, who was referred from a nursing home to RML hospital in the first week of February, had developed a lung infection. According to doctors at RML hospital, the man had been kept at the isolation ICU in the hospital for the last few days. "The patient had severe accompanying lung infection, which complicated matters. We had put him on strong antibiotics, in addition to the Tamiflu dose for the H1N1 infection. But he died of multi-organ failure on Wednesday," a doctor at the hospital said.
Maximum Number Of Cases Were In The Past 60 Days Jaipur: Eighteen pregnant women have died of swine flu in the state in the current financial year so far, with most of them dying in the past two months. So far 136 people have succumbed to swine flu in the current financial year but 102 deaths have been reported in the past 60 days. The health department officials said that 18 pregnant women have died of swine flu so far.

NEW DELHI: The swine flu cases in the city crossed 200 on Wednesday with 52 new cases being reported by various hospitals and labs. The state health department claimed four people have died due the viral infection so far including a 15-year-old girl who succumbed to the disease at a private hospital recently. One patient, who was confirmed positive for swine flu, succumbed to his condition at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital but officials said the patient was from Noida, Uttar Pradesh. "The authorities concerned in the state have been informed about the death," said the official.
