State to generate 20,000 MW from solar energy in 10 years
Srinagar: Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah has said 20,000 MW will be generated from solar energy in the state in the next 10 years. He said possibilities to produce more power from water and wind energy to minimise the huge expenditure on the exploitation of conventional sources of energy would also be explored.

MP govt import 50k metric tonnes of coal from Indonesia
The Madhya Pradesh government has imported 50,000 metric tonnes of coal from Indonesia to deal with its shortage which is affecting power generation in the state, official sources said. "The imported coal has reached a port in Gujarat and will reach the state shortly," Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL) Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) RB Agarwal said.

Transco gets 25% Hinduja power
Hyderabad, June 16: Twenty-five per cent of the power generated by the 1040 MW power plant of the Hinduja Group at Visakhapatnam will be given to the APTransco while the remaining 75 per cent will be sold in the open market. APTransco has approved this proposal and has sent it to the government for ratification.

Wind power body seeks higher tariffs in AP
The Indian Wind Power Association, a representative body of wind energy generation companies, has approached the Andhra Pradesh Government with a request to hike the power tariff from Rs 3.50 to Rs 7 per unit. This would help attract more investments into the State. Even if such a hike made, the tariff would still be lower than the peak purchase tariff of Rs 8 per unit, it contended.
