Proposed food security Act should cover all poor: Nitish
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday urged the Union Government to cover all the poor in any State in the proposed National Food Security Act and cautioned against imposing a ceiling on the number of below poverty line(BPL) families. He also favoured a system of direct cash transfer to the beneficiaries instead of a complex delivery mechanism.

Chhattisgarh Govt to fulfil poll promise of cheap rice
After launching the ambitious rice scheme for Rs three per kg, the Chhattisgarh Government is all set to fulfill its election promise and has decided to give subsidised wheat along with rice to 37 lakh BPL families in the State, official sources said on Tuesday. The scheme shall be launched on July 8 when a rice festival will be organised all over the State.

Economywide impacts of climate change on agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa
Two possible adaptation options to climate change for Sub-Saharan Africa are analyzed under the SRES B2 scenario. The first scenario doubles the irrigated area in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2050, compared to the baseline, but keeps total crop area constant. The second scenario increases both rainfed and irrigated crop yields by 25 percent for all Sub-Saharan African countries.
